First time in history: A bowler becomes No. 1 within 24 hours of being banned

In an ironic twist, young South African sensation Kagiso Rabada has been crowned the world's best Test bowler by the ICC just a day after he was suspended by the game's governing body for the rest of the Test series against Australia. Rabada's player-of-the-match performance in the second Test in Port Elizabeth, where he claimed 11-150 in South Africa's series-levelling six-wicket win, moved him to the top of the ICC rankings for Test bowlers. The 22-year-old has leapfrogged England's James Anderson to be the No.1 Test bowler in the world on 902 ranking points, with Anderson (887) and India's Ravindra Jadeja (844) rounding out the top three. Rabada has been suspended for two Tests after his brush with Australia captain Steve Smith on day one at St George's Park. Cricket South Africa have 48 hours after the charge was issued to decide whether to appeal, with that decision still to be made. The other big winner from the latest rankings upda...

INDW vs AUSW, 1st ODI: Australia beat India by eight wickets

Australian women cricket team won the first ODI of three-match series against India by eight wickets at Reliance Stadium, Vadodara, on Monday. Opting to bat first, India’s opening batting order collapsed and Pooja Vastrakar scored the maiden half-century of her ODI career, thus becoming the first Indian woman player to hit a fifty at number nine. After winning the toss, stand-in skipper Harmanpreet Kaur opted to bat and the decision backfired as Indian team lost half of their batters even before reaching the 100-run mark. However, India’s lower batting order stabilised the innings, but that was too late. Bowler Pooja Vastrakar, along with wicket-keeper batswoman Sushma Verma, put a 76-run partnership for the eighth wicket. Vastrakar scored the maiden half-century of her ODI career and in her 51-run knock, she hit one six and seven boundaries. Other than Vastrakar, Sushma Verma (41) and Punam Raut (37) were the only Indian batters who were able to tackle the Australi...

Nidahas Trophy: Thakur, Pandey Help India Register Convincing Six Wicket Win Over Sri Lanka

Manish Pandey and Dinesh Karthik starred with the bat as India sealed a comfortable 6 wicket win in the Nidahas Trophy encounter against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Monday. Earlier, young Thakur registered his best T20 bowling figures as Sri Lanka lost their way in the middle overs after Kusal Mendis' fifty and were restricted to 152 for nine. The match was reduced to 19-overs-a-side affair after over an hour was lost due to rain. India didn't have the best of starts with the bat as they lost openers Rohit Sharma (11) and Shikhar Dhawan (8) early in the chase. The captain's form will certainly be a worry for the team going ahead in the tournament. KL Rahul, who came into the team in place of Rishabh Pant stitched important partnership with Suresh Raina to get India back on track. Just when it seemed India would coast home, they experienced a bit of a stutter as Raina and Rahul departed in quick succession. Rahul also became the first Indian to be dismissed hit-wicket...

The West Indies will visit Pakistan for the series on April 1, 2 and 4. This will also mark another return of international cricket to the country.
