SA vs IND 2017: BCCI to Announce Test Squad After Delhi Test Match

The India squad for the Test series against South Africa will be announced after the conclusion of the third and the final Test between India and Sri Lanka that will be played at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. The squad was to be announced the same when selectors named the team for the third Test and ODI series against Sri Lanka. The selectors were also scheduled to conduct a press conference post the selection meeting but the unavailability of convener, Amitabh Choudhary, meant that there was no presser and only two squads were announced which were the need of the hour. Reports have also added that Indian skipper Virat Kohli will also confirm his availability for the T20I series till December 12, which was another reason why selectors didn’t announce the squad for the T20I series. Now, the selectors will announce the squad after the conclusion of the third Test, and a press conference is expected to be held by the concerned authorities. The selectors are expected to announce...

What are some relatively unknown sports?

#1 Chess Boxing Chess boxing  is exactly what it sounds like -- a hybrid of knocking out and checkmating opponents. The battle consists of 11 rounds in which competitors alternate between playing traditional chess and boxing. #2 Cheese Rolling Competitors take part in the  annual Cheese-Rolling event at Cooper’s Hill  in Gloucestershire, U.K. Here's how it works: a large cheese wheel is rolled down a steep hill, and competitors race after it. The first person to reach the bottom of the hill wins the cheese. It may not sound dangerous, but the steepness of the hill has resulted in  several injuries . #3 Extreme Ironing Extreme sport  or performance art? Possibly both. Competitors who call themselves "ironists" go to a remote location and iron their clothes. The domestic chore has been performed underwater, hanging from cliffs, while skiing or snowboarding and even on top of vehicles. #4 Egg Throwing According to the ...

Sunil Chhetri wanted THIS star to win Best FIFA Player Award

Real Madrid hero Cristiano Ronaldo won the Best FIFA Men's Player Award for the second year running Monday (October 23), piping the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar, who were also among the three finalists. The result though would have caused Sunil Chhetri a little bit of disappointment as the Portugal international was not the Indian captain's first-choice for the prestigious award. Notably, 33-year-old was also part of the voting process as international captains, coaches, along with fans and a select group of media had the right to nominate players. The national team skippers were allowed to choose three players for the Best Player category. The first-choice received five points, the second three points and the third one point, according to FIFA's official website. Chhetri's first choice, surprisingly, was Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos, who was part of the initial 24 nominees for the annual award. Ronaldo was the Bengaluru FC star's second choi...

Ashish Nehra, the last of India's 1990s cricket generation, prepares for swansong

Ashish Nehra had first played for India in a Test against Sri Lanka back in 1999. A little over 18 years later, the left-arm pacer is set to call time on his career and will bow out. Ironically, Nehra will make his  final appearance  in a  T20 International . The format had not even taken shape at the competitive level when he started playing for India. The first ever T20 International match was played in February 2005, a full six years after his Test debut. It was not before 2009 that Nehra was actually introduced to the shortest format for India. But he delivered like always and he now happens to be India's third highest wicket-taker in T20Is behind R Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah with 34 wickets from 26 matches. He was successful in one-day cricket too with a tally of 157 wickets in 120 matches. Nehra's most iconic moment on the field for India came during the 2003 World Cup against England when his 6/23 helped India to a comprehensive win. Nehra played a ste...

Nehra has asked for a special...
